Britain, it's time to have a serious conversation.

This is the Independent Republican Mike Graham.

Have you ever heard such a load of old cobblers as you've heard today in the midst of what should be a lead-up to Christmas and the new year,

a time when people can look forward to the future. 13 years into a government reign should not have led to this.

It should not have come to this. But it has come to this. As the night accelerates into the new day, the country is facing a very, very odd situation. After the

coalition shambles with the Lib Dems and the nonsense of the years after the Brexit referendum,

our elected MPs have once more really led us down. All day, we have heard bitter arguments,

negative briefings, reasons to say no to a bill which has been

cooked up by a prime minister who's desperate to put something in the wind column, because let's face it,

he doesn't have much going for him. Practically everyone thinks the Rwanda bill isn't the answer

to Britain's immigration problems. That's because it isn't. It will never deter the thousands

coming here each and every month from all corners of the world without any fear of being deported.

It will do nothing to stop the hundreds of thousands coming here legally as students and then staying for years afterwards.

And it will do nothing to help build houses for the extra millions of people now living in the UK who weren't here as little as five years ago.
