Imagine for a moment you are out riding your horse with your three-year-old son.

You step off the horse for a moment to open a gate, and you look down and you see a rattlesnake.

Ah.

Obviously, you shoot it with your trusty rifle.

Obviously.

Two more snakes emerge from the bushes.

Oh.

Then more.

No.

Then more. No. And you suddenly realize that you are standing in the middle of a rattlesnake migration. You are surrounded by dozens, hundreds of rattlesnakes.

Um, freeze? Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's what I do. But like,

with rattlesnakes, that's what you're supposed to do, right? Hold perfectly still, and then they decide you're not a threat and they go away. But you have to get back to your kitten before the snakes get to the horse, who throws the kid into the rattlesnakes.
