| 0:00.0 | There is no substitute for the preaching and teaching of God's Word. Each weekday on enjoying the journey, Scott Pauley leads us in a brief study of Scripture. |
| 0:20.3 | Today, on the weekend pulpit, we are happy to share a full-length Bible message given through Scott's pulpit ministry. These messages were recorded live in a local church or gospel event in recent days. It is our prayer that the message will be a help to you today. Let's open the Word of God together one more time to Matthew Chapter 9, which you find the gospel according to Matthew chapter 9 in your Bible, or get next to somebody that has a copy of the scripture so you can follow along. |
| 1:11.1 | We've been studying this amazing chapter today in the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus. |
| 1:16.3 | In fact, it is set in his own city, verse one tells us. |
| 1:20.1 | Aren't you glad that Jesus works in every city and Jesus will work in your city? |
| 1:25.0 | And wherever the Lord is invited, wherever Christ is made welcome, that's his |
| 1:29.2 | hometown, because the Lord just moves in. When he moves in, he brings all of the divine furnishings |
| 1:35.5 | with him. And you see Christ at work in Matthew chapter 9. There's a little theme that I think is the |
| 1:41.8 | thread that is woven through this chapter. If you haven't marked it |
| 1:44.9 | already in your Bible, in verse number six, it is that the son of man has power on earth to forgive |
| 1:51.8 | sins. And then he repeats it in verse number eight, such power, such power. There is no power like the |
| 2:00.5 | power of Christ. There is no power like the power of christ there is no power like the power |
| 2:03.1 | of heaven at work on earth and god moving among men and in the bible study hour we learned |
| 2:09.6 | something about the power of compassion the power of the love of god to change hearts and |
| 2:15.3 | melt calloused souls and then in the morning meeting we talked about the power of God to change hearts and melt calloused souls. And then in the morning meeting, |
| 2:18.6 | we talked about the power of the gospel, what it means to have faith in God and forgiveness of |
| 2:24.3 | sins and a future. I bring you now to the closing verses of Matthew chapter 9, and I want to talk |
| 2:30.4 | to you this evening about a third type of Christ's power at work in us, |
| 2:35.2 | and it is the power of prayer. |
| 2:38.2 | I follow along as I read, would you please, in verse number 36. |
| 2:42.2 | But when Jesus saw the multitudes, he was moved. |
| 2:49.6 | I wonder sometime what it's going to take to move us. He was moved. I wonder sometime what it's going to take to move us. |
