It is our prayer that the message will be a help to you today. I want you to open the Word of God with me, if you will, please, to the Gospel according to John, John Chapter number one.

This is the fourth gospel record, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. There's only one gospel. The gospel is the message of Jesus. It's the good news of the death and the barrel and the resurrection of Christ.

But there are four gospel records, which means that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are really all just pointing us to the same Christ. They're just telling the story from their perspective

under inspiration of the Holy Spirit. And I've got to tell you, every time I come to John,

I think Mark is my favorite. If I had to pick one, I really like Mark.

Maybe my favorite is whichever one I happen to be reading at the time. But John, every time I come to

John, I see a man named Gene Milney in my mind. Years and years ago in Tennessee, it was working in a church and I wanted to see

jean come to jesus so badly i talked to him and talked to him and prayed for him and prayed for

him and gave him every gospel track and tried to answer his questions i visited his home one night

really hoping that evening jean would come to faith in christ and he didn't and before i left i said I said, Gene, you have a Bible? He said, yes, sir, I've got a Bible. He went and got his Bible, and I opened it up to John chapter 1, right where we are. And I took a piece of paper, and I marked it, and I said, look, there's 21 chapters in the gospel according to John. Why don't we make a deal for the next three weeks? He said, what's that?

I said, why don't you read a chapter a day for the next three weeks?

You'll read through the whole book of John in the next 21 days.

And I will pray for you every day for the next 21 days.

That God helps you understand what you're reading and that you'll come to know who the Lord is because John's all

about Jesus why he came who he is what he can do and so we made an agreement a gentleman's

agreement and that was on i think Thursday on Sunday i saw him he was in church and the pastor preached that morning and near the end of the

meeting, I slipped over next to him. We were buddies and I put my arm around him and so glad to see you.
