Summary

Prepare to gain a profound understanding of the weaponization of suffering within narcissistic abuse, religious groups, and society at large. In this episode, we sit down with Natalie Hoffman, author, podcaster, and educator for Christian women in emotionally and spiritually abusive relationships. We explore the glorification of suffering as a badge of honor in relationships and spiritual growth. Natalie guides us through the nuanced differences between necessary and unnecessary suffering, with insights on how these concepts can play out in abusive relationships and faith-based ones.  Our conversation scrutinizes 'holiness', 'morals', and 'perfectionism', questioning their practical attainability and advocating for a more human-centric approach that fosters self-love and acceptance. And we also dive into the darker side of suffering within abusive relationships and how it can be wielded as a tool of shame.
