Well, a number of years ago I had the most important interview of my life. The

position was a little bit of a stretch for me. The stakes were high, the competition

was going to be stiff. I was totally intimidated by the panel of interviewers, but what I was

most apprehensive about was the fact that I knew there would be some curveballs thrown

my way. I just didn't know what they were going to be. I knew I'm going to need to access

some information in the moment in order to navigate the difficulties of that situation.

Well, so I get there and you know the interview starts off pretty standard. There's a written

portion, a verbal portion, and you know that that was going fine. There was the obligatory

like strengths and weaknesses question, and you know you always answer the weakness question

with something that's actually a strength, right? You do that. I think I probably said something

like, you know, I really struggle with the ability to settle for mediocrity. You know,

I'm working on it, but I just can't get there, right? Like get over yourself. But anyway,

those questions went fine, but then the curveball moment came and it was this. We were essentially

going to play a game of charades. And this is when you ask, what in the world kind of interview

involves charades? I'll get to that. But how it was going to go was the firing squad. The

interview panel was going to throw out these different scenarios to me. That panel by the way

happened to be the captains of the varsity cheerleading squad. But they were going to throw out these

scenarios that I would have to act out. I later learned that's fairly typical in a college mascot

tryout or interview, but you know who knew at the time. So anyway, the moment for this charades
