Well, how can this possibly be? Maybe in his time of silence he's starting to realize,

wait a minute. My wife's past the ability to give birth. I'm suddenly in line with all of those people who have gone before me.

And then she sees a bump.

Yeah, exactly.

And he's saying, wait a minute, this is actually happening again.

And so all of those accounts all of those

narratives are all preparatory for the child that Mary will give birth to in a

wholly unique way but all of them are forerunners of Christ.

So the great connection you have like with Hannah and with Alkana and then with

Zacharai and Elizabeth, and there's a number of wonderful connections between those two

accounts, but the key one is that just as Samuel

comes to prepare the way, announce the new king and anoint him. So this is

exactly what the baptizer is going to do.

And so this is why moving on into verse 76,

this is why I think Zakaria can start singing to his own son,

and you, my child, will be called the prophet of the the Most High for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways.

You're going to be the new Samuel. You're going to be the new Elijah. You're going to be the new Elijah. You're going to be the promised Elijah who's come to prepare the way of the
