Welcome everybody. Welcome, everybody to today's interview. I'm honored, humbled and excited to have Dr. Carl Hart with us here today. Thank you so much for joining us today, man.

And I'm happy to be here.

You know, we were supposed to do this a long time ago, but I'm glad we're doing it now.

Yeah, you've been up to a little bit in the meantime.

Not like you haven't been up to a lot for decades now. So just so everybody knows, I've known of and admired your work, Carl, for, man, more than a decade.

I mean, like 18, I'd say 18 years or so, because when I came into graduate school,

you were already deep into doing neuroscience-based work.

So the reason I was looking up to you back then had to do with the academics and the neuroscience

work that you were doing. And then both of us sort of ended up taking very different routes

than maybe the traditional routes that were expected at the time, which humbles me more

through stories that I'll tell you as we talk here today just really makes me trust a little bit that

the path we're taken is an honorable one, which is not necessarily believed by everybody

who we left behind, let's just say it that way. You wrote, there's two amazing books that

you wrote that I want to talk about just and bring them up

i have them i've read them if you haven't read them and you care about drugs drug policy

addiction neuroscience or just you know read about advances in the way we see humanity
