Good afternoon from Washington. I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cast the Democratic

2020 field lost a few players this week, notably Kamala Harris and Steve Bullock. But did

you know the former Congressman Joe Cestek was running? Well, anyway, he's not now.

Now the field is currently dominated by four front runners, Biden Warren Sanders and Buttigieg

with Buttigieg surging into first place in Iowa, according to at least one poll and possibly

New Hampshire. And then there's of course the Michael Bloomberg experiment here of skipping

the first four states. How's that shaking things up? This week, Democrats in Congress,

meanwhile, charged forward on impeachment, speeding toward the possible vote of articles of

impeachment before Christmas. So far, the impeachment probe in the House has done little to change

public opinion on this, particularly Republican support for the president, which went up in the

beginning, but as since tapered off. So our Democrats playing a long or short game here and is

there really any upside to either decision at this point politically. But then again, maybe it's

the Republicans are blowing this joining me now to discuss GQ magazine correspondent Julia Yafi,

who is also currently writing a book on Russian women and Washington Post national political

correspondent James Homan, who will go recognize from your inbox with the daily 202. Welcome to

you both. Good to be with you. So I'm going to get let's dispatch with the the impeachment hearing.

First of all, is it just a history junkie. James, I know you are. I'm going to assume if you're in

this business, you are too. Sir, I kind of enjoyed the oral histories of the debate about what to

put in the Constitution. I mean, I thought that was kind of interesting, James. Yeah, you're not very

often you see on network television, lying discourses on the federalist papers and what James

Madison was thinking when John of them, Terley misquoted Alexander Hamilton, by the way, in

federal 65. I noticed in his case against impeachment, but the relevancy of these hearings today.
