In this episode, we're going to learn about a war that the United States was involved in after we were in World War II and the Korean War.

This was the Vietnam War.

Before I tell you the story about this war though, I need you to help me set a backdrop for us.

I need you to pause me for a moment and go get your world map or globe.

We are going to find China first.

It's on the other side of the world, opposite of the United States of America.

Next slide your finger over to the left until you reach India.

Now look between China and India.

This area, which is mostly a rather large peninsula, bordered on the east by the South China Sea and on the west by the Bay of Bengal,

is made up of modern day countries, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam and Bangladesh.

It is on this geographical area that we are going to focus in this episode.

Myanmar, which was once called Burma, was ruled by the British from 1885 to 1948.
