It all got started after we finished what was to be the doctrinaire's last radio show before the big Christmas break.

As soon as I put down my headphones, my producer let me know I was expected to attend a hastily called

last minute programming meeting. A meeting that changed my holiday plans. A meeting that changed my life.

Eric, thanks for coming. How are things? Things are good. I just did the last show of the year. I'm looking forward to a lot of holiday time with the family. About that. About that. What does that mean?

Eric, have you met Elaine Capsule? She's our person from National. Promotions, that is. Radio promotions.

It is very good to meet you, Mr. Von Hesler, especially at a time like this.

A time like what?

Your time. We come to you with what is destined to be the greatest radio promotion in the history

of the world.

Well, that sounds great. Let's set up a meeting and go over things when I get back

from vacation. No. Mr. Von Hesler, that is not the way it will be. Excuse me? You will have to

abandon your holiday plans if you are to participate in this. The grandest of radio stunts.

So, what's the pitch? What's the idea?

As you know, 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone.

COVID, political unrest, the election.

We believe the audience wants us to end the year on a good note, a hopeful note.

We will satisfy that need by sending you and the doctrinares, plus special guests,

to put a Christmas tree on the moon, fully decorated, of course.
