There's no other way to really open up the show today other than talking, of course,

about the news that broke yesterday, which I'm sure you're all aware of, which is the assassination

of Charlie Kirk, the right-wing political commentator.

Now, it's only me here right now for reasons we'll explain in a little while, but I want

to start off this section by noting two things, two very important things.

First of all,

we here at Head in the Office fully condemn political violence of all kinds. I think what happened was bad. Shouldn't be a shocker to any of you that have been listening for a long time.

The second thing that I would urge you all to remember is to be cautious when you're posting

online, not just online, but also when you're posting in

things like the head in the office Discord. There's a tendency that right-wingers have to sort

infiltrate left-wing communities and then blow up any small aspects of extremism that they find.

Let's not let that happen. Be prudent with what you're saying, and remember that if you are posting in relation to heading the office in some way, whether it's on the Discord or in our comment section or whatever it may be, that could be reflected not just on you, but on the community as a whole. So be careful, especially because we don't know what the response on the right is going to be just yet and I'm coming at you with information that

we have like a day later so be cautious and be careful but just me for this segment Gage's beautiful

face will return a little bit later on but I figured it was important to start off talking about

the story because I know you all are still thinking about it and I know it's sort of like

the news right now. So just to give some background before we get into like the analysis that we should do, Charlie Kirk, as I said, was assassinated yesterday. He had just started his yearly tour of college campuses that he does with Turning Point USA and he was at his first stop at Utah Valley University where he was shot in the neck at range. He was then rushed to the hospital,

but it was pretty soon after he was shot that we learned of his death. It didn't take very long.

It was maybe like an hour, hour and a half before we got that confirmation from the president

of the United States himself. And, you know, it was very much a blur. When these types of like

insane events happen, like, you know, we think of the attempted assassination attempts of Donald Trump or other instances of major political violence, I usually go to sleep that night feeling sort of unclear about how I want to talk about things and then wake up with a bit more clarity after I've sort of like processed it in my subconscious.

Today I don't feel that way.
