Should you walk longer than 10 minutes?

0:03.6

I want to talk about the health benefits of a longer walk during today's 10-minute walk.

0:10.1

Hi, I'm Dave.

0:11.4

Welcome to Walking is Fitness, a daily podcast to encourage you to create and sustain a habit of walking.

0:19.7

Today's walk starts in just a moment. Today's 10-minute walk is

0:26.8

starting out a little on the noisy side. I'm walking near the fire department so I guess

0:32.2

1:41.8

create a consistent habit. It's not about how far can I go.

1:46.0

It's about can I do this every day

1:49.0

at the same time and build a habit.

1:53.0

Once that habit is established,

1:56.0

and you've got some fitness capacity and some momentum, then you can go longer. And so this really is for those who have

2:06.3

a habit in place and are considering walking more than 10 minutes. Or maybe you already are.

2:13.8

Maybe you listen to two or three of these episodes as you're walking and you're already doing a 30-minute walk.
