I'm in a season of life where gratitude is becoming more important,

and that includes being grateful for the opportunity to do this, to walk.

I've got seven specific things about walking that I'm grateful for that we'll talk about today.

Hi, I'm Dave. Welcome to Walking is Fitness, a daily

podcast to encourage you to create and sustain a habit of walking. Today's 10-minute

walk starts in just a moment. I'm walking along a trail, pine needles on the trail.

It's a dirt trail with pine needles.

And I've got trees on both sides.

And the trees have birds.

I don't know if you can hear you can hear the different birds it's in the

morning sun's up sun's probably been up for was it hour hour and a half and it's a partly sunny day and the sun is streaming through the trees and it's just, it's

beautiful.

One of my oldest friends, in fact, probably my oldest friend in terms in terms of how long I've known him.

A guy named Don, we met in elementary school.

Learned from Don that his wife, Gloria, had an accident and broke both ankles.

And Gloria is in a wheelchair now

for probably close to two months.

My neighbor Mike,

who walks every day, has not been walking

as much as he had been.

I'm not sure he's getting out and taking the walks.

Something's up with his knee.
