podcast from the St Paul Center. Today I am with my good friend Rob Corzine.

Welcome, Rob.

It's good to be here.

We have made a decision to tackle one of the thorniest problems in the Gospels, and that is, what in the

problems, what in the world was Jesus talking about

when he referred to the unpardonable sin.

Not that this has ever bothered anybody here or anybody we know. I'll be honest. I really

did worry about this way way back. I was telling you before we started Rob that it was my high school years as a young teen about the age of 14.

I had just experienced the grace of a young adult conversion and I went and had a group pray over me and my buddy and they lay their hands upon us and they promised all kinds of good things and nothing happened and when we left about an hour later, I was really discouraged and I think my friend was somewhat

cynical because he kind of walked away from that and never looked back.

The last I heard he was busted on cocaine. He returned

to whence we had come and that is a life of drugs and drinking and that kind of thing. And I began to ponder why did nothing happen and the thought that came to me I must

have committed the unpardonable sin you know and one of those binges you know some weekend evening when I

drank too much or when I was too high you know who's to say what I did what I said

without even knowing it you had you had crossed the line that you couldn't

return from. That's right and you were talking before we started about

St. Lawrence. Yeah brother Lawrence the one of the great masters of the spiritual life in, you know, in Catholic reading, the author of the practice of the presence of God, talks about how he spent years firmly convinced that he was reprobate.
