Summary

Hurry can be one of our greatest temptations but also one of the fiercest enemies of family life and homeschooling, but what if we chose to slow down? What might we discover? What might we recover? Pastor Mark Buchanan shared in his book The Rest of God:  Someone asked me recently what was my biggest regret in life. I thought a moment, surveying the vast and cluttered landscape of my blunders and losses, the evil I have done and the evil that’s been done against me. “Being in a hurry,” I said. “Pardon?” Being in a hurry. Getting to the next thing without fully entering the thing in front of me. I cannot think of a single advantage I’ve ever gained from being in a hurry. But a thousand broken and missed things, tens of thousands, lie in the wake of all that rushing. Through all that haste, I thought I was making up time. It turns out I was throwing it away Scriptures mentioned in the podcast: Luke 16:24-31 Deuteronomy 6:4-9 Psalm 9:10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Proverbs 3:5,6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek his will in all you do and he will show you which path to take. Places I will be speaking in 2020

Hey everyone. Welcome to this week's podcast. I'm Durenda Wilson, wife to one, mom to eight, and

0:17.6

Nana to six, and homeschooling mom for over 24 years. I am so glad that you've

0:24.7

joined me today. I'm going to be talking about the unhurried family. I know, right? It almost

0:30.2

seems ironic in a world that is just whirling faster and faster and faster. It seems as though

0:36.7

it's impossible. But this is the beauty of homeschooling,

0:39.6

you guys, as we have the opportunity to slow down and to be that unhurried family for many

0:46.1

very good reasons that I'm going to share with you today. But before I get started, I want to

0:52.6

remind you that I have a little book called The Unhurried Homeschooler.

0:56.6

If you haven't checked that out, it is a simple, mercifully short book on homeschooling,

1:01.8

and you can find that on Amazon.

1:04.1

I also have a devotional that I wrote, especially for homeschooling moms.

1:10.1

It's called Unhurried Grace for a Mom's Heart.

1:12.8

You can also find that on Amazon.

1:15.9

I also am in the podcast notes.

1:19.1

I'm going to be leaving a link of the places that I'm going to be speaking during the conference

1:26.8

season in 2020. I'm very excited because I'm going to be speaking during the conference season in 2020. I'm very excited because I'm

1:30.9

going to be in quite a number of different places. And I'm hoping that some of you will come to

1:37.9

these conferences and meet me in person. I would love to get to know you. I'd love to hug your

1:42.8

neck and just see you face to face because

1:45.1

that's the best, that's the best ever. So today, I'm going to be, like I said before,

1:52.5

talking to you about the unhurried family. Now, I kind of have to back up just a little bit

1:57.7

and just give you a little bit of background if some of you don't know when I
