0:18.0	about the concept of heaven, it was from Looney Tunes. You know, Wiley Coyote or Yosemite or Elmer Fudder, whoever gets killed in the cartoon, and they end up floating on a cloud playing a harp in heaven. I mean, it's kind of funny when I think about it because those cartoons were pretty dark, but that's besides the point. From that point forward, other things started to shape my idea of what the ultimate
0:37.6	goal of a Christian was. I somehow got the idea that the ultimate goal of a Christian is to die,
0:42.8	to become a soul, and to spend eternity on a cloud somewhere in an unending ethereal worship service.
0:49.9	And if I can be honest, I found that totally boring. Jesus, yeah, I found him interesting, but heaven, a royal bore.
0:57.3	I remember reading Huckleberry Finn in high school and thinking that Huck kind of got the measure of things.

1:23.7	forever and ever so i didn't think much of it. But I never said so. I asked her if she

1:34.6	because I wanted him and me to be together. Of course, it's supposed to be a funny quote, but it illustrates
1:40.6	a profound problem. If the goal of the Christian life is unappealing to you,
1:45.2	then you'll never embark on the journey. Or if you do, you'll never stick with it. So I have some
1:50.6	good news for you. The Bible never once says that going to heaven is the goal of the Christian life.
