Summary

The King offers one of his twelve daughters' hands in marriage for anyone who can find out where the princesses disappear to each night. A wounded soldier gets some sage advice from a woman he meets on the robe - will it be enough to help him get to the bottom of this mystery?

Thank you. Once upon a time, there lived a king who had 12 daughters, and each was more beautiful than the next.

All the girls slept together in one enormous room.

Their beds were side by side, and at the foot of each bed lay their shoes.

Every night their father, the king, would lock their door after they went to sleep,

and every morning, when he returned to open it, he would see their shoes were worn out from dancing.

No one could figure out how this had happened. It was a mystery. One day, the king proclaimed
