But first let's talk about the Emmy reactions and Richard you wrote up the snubs and surprises post for us.

Well, it wasn't so much to scratch my head or pull my hair out.

It was more of a confirmation of something that we've noticed happening

and this was not you know this was not Julianna Margulies not getting nominated for the good wife

and you know there were there were some general you know fan outrageous but for me the most

telling thing about sort of our TV and political landscape was that this for the first time since 2001

The Daily Show is not nominated in the Best Variety Series category. So that basically was almost John Stewart's entire run every season that show was nominated and this year with Trevor Noah at the helm it was not which you know is a kind of striking

example of the way that that handover with between Stewart and Noah didn't quite work out and it came at a time when there had been some kind of unfortunate
