Summary

In this episode sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, I sit down with world champion sprinter and mental health advocate Jasmine Blocker. Jasmine talks about how sports have shaped her life and her decision to speak openly about mental health. She also shares her journey with major depressive disorder (MDD)—cycling through adequate trials of multiple depression medications without finding symptom relief—before being diagnosed with treatment-resistant depression (TRD).

Jasmine discusses what it meant to finally receive a TRD diagnosis, actively participating in treatment decisions, and how SPRAVATO® (esketamine) CIII nasal spray helped relieve her depressive symptoms. Every patient’s experience is different, so if you or an adult you know has been experiencing TRD, talk to a healthcare provider about SPRAVATO® and whether it may be the right fit. Visit SPRAVATO.com to learn more, including information on serious side effects such as sedation, dissociation, respiratory depression, and the risk of abuse and misuse.

INDICATION

SPRAVATO® (esketamine) CIII nasal spray is a prescription medicine indicated for adults with TRD, used alone or in conjunction with an oral antidepressant.

SPRAVATO® is not for use as a medicine to prevent or relieve pain (anesthetic). It is not known if SPRAVATO® is safe or effective as an anesthetic medicine or for use in preventing suicide or reducing suicidal thoughts or actions. It is not for use in place of hospitalization. It is not known if SPRAVATO® is safe and effective in children.

SPRAVATO® is only available through a restricted distribution program called the SPRAVATO® Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program. This means you are under the direct supervision of a healthcare provider while you self-administer the nasal spray and are monitored for at least two hours afterwards to keep track of any serious side effects.

Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to Johnson & Johnson at 1-800-526-7736, or to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Remember, this content is not intended to be a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Please talk to your healthcare provider if you have any questions about your health, including treatment options. They are always your best resource for medical information.

me to be more in tune with my feelings and to reach a place of clarity and also just like acceptance during any stage of my life and truthfully

thrive.

0:44.0

And while I think it's especially applicable to motherhood, I really believe that it's

0:48.0

applicable to all stages of life.

0:50.1

And that is a concept that two conflicting emotions can coexist at once.

0:54.6

And I don't think I allowed space for this in my life before having kids.

1:01.5

But after having kids, it has been the absolute greatest unlock for me.

1:07.7

And what I wish I could, like, stand on a mountaintop and scream to everyone who's listening

1:13.4

or like if I gave some form of talk or lecture. I really think this is what it would be about.

1:18.4

Because I think in today's world, we are so quick to judge or criticize or we want to place something in a box so that we can label it as whatever

1:33.0

we deem it labeled as and then kind of move on. And we don't allow space for duality.

And the reality that two conflicting emotions can coexist at once.
