The evolution of social media has been fueled by our impulse as humans to communicate in advanced

digital technology.

It's a long history, but if you think back to the beginnings, for many of us we remember social media really kicking off back when

My Space started. In 2003 My Space had launched and by 2006 it was actually the most visited website on the planet.

Then in 2008 it was eclipsed by Facebook.

After that in 2011 MySpace was actually purchased by Justin Timberlake.

Then Google Plus was launched.

Then after that, there was Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat,

Reddit, Twitter, not in any particular order, there's even Pinterest, and now Tik-Toc.

And the great thing about all these social media platforms is that they do allow us to share

a great deal of information, but if you think back things used to be a lot simpler.

When MySpace first came out, our biggest concerns were making sure that our page look cool

enough and we had the right music for when people visited the page.

Now social media is causing a great deal of influence in younger people's lives and leading to

what we now know as social media trends.

Now from what I can remember, the social media trends

were the ice bucket challenge for ALS.

But many of the new social media trends,

especially on Tik-Toc, are really just there to garner views.

Some of them are funny, their dances, some of them are lip-sinking, others are showing off

your amazing collection of lightsabers.

And there's one trend that I personally love
