I want to talk about what a lot of people are calling the Trump effect.

And no, that has nothing to do with me.

This has to do with Donald.

So when he came back into the Oval Office in January of 2025,

he thought that he was just going to reshape American politics forever

because who was going to stop him?

Now, obviously, he has changed America and its politics, but not in the way he hoped, because as it turns out, a majority of

Americans are less than thrilled about living under an extremist regime. Now, thanks to Donald's many,

many innumerable, just uncountable missteps,

the backlash is showing up where it most is going to hurt him and the Republican Party. That's at the

ballot box. From deep red districts to state-wide races, Donald's unpopularity is fueling surprise Democratic

victories across the country. Let's start Nebraska. Now, voters there made history last week.

In Omaha, they elected John Ewing Jr. as its first black mayor ousting three-term Republican, Gene Strothard,

in a citywide upset that is upset that's making national waves. Take a look at this.

Do it, Jewing, Jewing, Jewel, Jew, New, New, New, New, New, New. Omaha will have a new mayor.

Stothert addressed her campaign party just moments ago, saying that she called and congratulated the new mayor of Omaha, John Ewing Jr.

You saw it live on News Watch 7 at 9.

I mean, that's a large margin of victory, by the way. Now, technically, the seat's nonpartisan, but let's not kid ourselves here.

This was a political knockout.

Stothert ran a campaign backed by Trump-aligned donors and leaned hard into the GOP's favorite culture war.

A PAC sent out a mailer accusing Ewing of wanting to, quote, let boys in girls sports, unquote.
