Welcome to our Monday's broadcast of the gospel truth.

Today I'm continuing a series that I've entitled

The True Nature of God.

This is the beginning of my second week teaching on that.

I have a book by that title, The True Nature of God, and I tell you,

this is just foundational stuff. It's going to be impossible for you to have a really great

relationship with God if you have been laboring under some of the misconceptions and lies about God.

And I've dealt with this, like I said, for the previous week. I encourage you to go listen to that teaching. You can go to our website and listen to those

free. You can get the materials here. Let me real quickly just say that some of the misinformation

about God has come from Scripture. Not that I'm critical of Scripture

at all, but it's been misinterpreted. And one of the points that I've been trying to make is

that the Old Testament law was not given so that you could keep it and thereby earn relationship

with God. The purpose of the law was not to justify you in the side of God,

but rather to make you guilty and show you how wrong you were

so that you would despair of self-righteousness.

And you'd quit trying to earn God's favor.

You'd be so condemned that you just say, God, if this is what

you demand, Lord, have mercy on me a sinner. That was one of the purposes of the law. And so to illustrate
