The Treasury Department will make more than $130 billion of scheduled payments, June 1st and 2nd for veterans and Social Security and Medicare recipients.

In a letter to Congress, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says those payments will lead the agency with an extremely low level of resources and unable to satisfy all obligations the week of June 5th when an estimated $92 billion of payments and transfers are scheduled.

The letter is the most detailed timeline yet about how soon the U.S. could default without an increase or suspension of the debt limit.

It is later than earlier estimates warning of a breach as soon as June 1st.
