0:14.2	This upcoming Sunday in Lent, when we go to Mass, we're going to encounter one of the
0:18.6	most important stories in the Gospel accounts of Christ's public ministry.
0:23.0	It's a big turning point in this public ministry.
0:25.5	It's the scene of the transfiguration.
0:28.5	There's so much in this scene, and I'm really excited to get into this with you today.
0:32.2	But first, I want to share with you something that happened early in my life as a professor.
0:37.3	I was having breakfast with a great bishop.
0:40.0	His name is Archbishop Charles Shapu.
0:42.3	He was the Archbishop here in Denver.
0:43.9	I wasn't even living in Denver at the time.
0:45.6	I was teaching at Benedict and College in Kansas, but I was coming into Denver for some
0:50.0	meetings with focus.
0:51.6	We had breakfast shortly before the feast day of the transfiguration.
0:56.0	He knew I was a biblical scholar, wanted to get my thoughts on some things.
0:59.2	He said, I get this as an important part of Jesus' life, and I get it for theology.
1:04.1	It reveals his glory, his divinity.
1:06.5	But what difference does this scene make for the average layperson, for their ordinary
1:10.7	daily lives?
1:11.7	What's the practical pastoral application of this scene?
1:16.2	I didn't really have as much to say about that because I had studied it more from the
1:19.4	theological perspective and showing Christ divinity.
