November 15, 1971. Galveston, Texas. 15-year-old Debbie Ackerman and 15-year-old Maria Johnson

are seen climbing into a white van outside a nice cream shop, but they never return home.

Days later, the girl's bodies are found in a bayou and they are bound,

nude from the waist down, and have been shot to death. After several decades,

a convicted murder named Edward Harrell Bell sends out letters in which he confesses to

having killed Debbie and Maria. Bell claims to be responsible for the murders of 11 female

victims in Texas during the 1970s and refers to them as the 11 who went to heaven, but none of

these cases are conclusively solved. After that, the trail went cold.

Hello everyone and welcome to part two of our special seven-year anniversary episode of the

trail went cold. I'm your host Robin Wartor, and today I'll be picking up where we left off

last week and continuing our series about 11 murder victims known as the 11 who went to heaven.

The victims in question were 11 girls between the ages of 12 and 19 who were all killed within

the same tri-county area of Texas during the 1970s. After a convicted murderer named Edward

Harrell Bell confessed all these crimes decades later, he referred to them as the 11 who went to

heaven. On last week's episode, we focused primarily on the murders of two of these victims,

Ronda Rainey Johnson and Sharon Shaw, as a suspect named Michael Lloyd's self was charged and convicted

of that crime. However, self-s arrest was made possible by a confession which he claimed it

been coerced from him by corrupt cops and self never stopped maintaining his innocence until he

died in prison in 2000. While Edward Harrell Bell, who was serving a 70-year prison sentence for the

1978 murder of a man named Larry Dickens, eventually started implying that he was the real killer of

Ronda Rainey Johnson and Sharon Shaw and also took credit for the unsolved murders of nine other

victims which took place in that region of Texas between 1971 and 1977. Bell's claims eventually
