Well, in 1998, Yahoo, a pioneer of the early internet, was approached by an up-and-coming search engine with a funny name and a colorful logo.

Any guesses?

Google.

And at the time, Yahoo was one of the largest internet companies in the world, with a market capitalization of $23 billion.

While Google, on the other hand, was a much smaller, meeker, newer company.

And as the story goes, the day came when the owners of Google, ready to walk away from

the internet business, approached the suits at Yahoo with an offer on the table for Yahoo to purchase Google for

$1 million. You heard that right. Yahoo, would you like to buy Google for $1 million?

And so the head execs at Yahoo, they thought it over, they considered it, but they ultimately

declined. Because based on their valuations, to them, Google was not worth a million dollars.

Today, 27 years later, Yahoo has all but fizzled out into obscurity, and Google now has the third

highest market capitalization of all companies on the globe worth over $3 trillion with the T dollars.

That's 12 zeros after the three for anybody counting.

I counted. That's three million times more three for anybody counting. I counted.

That's three million times more than their original asking price.

Needless to say, Yahoo made a dramatically bad valuation.

And that bad valuation informed a bad action to say no to Google.

Now, why do I share that?

Because while it's tragic for Yahoo to have Google right in front of them and to pass, the tragedy for us this Christmas and the great tragedy

in life is to have the greatest being, the greatest man, the greatest love right in front of us in the person of Jesus Christ,
