Hello I'm Bex and welcome to the Week Junior

today I'm joined by two of the team from the Week Junior,

the magazine Making Sense of the World for 8 to 14 year olds.

We've got assistant editor Flora and writer Eve.

Now in this episode we're going to be talking about the Big Garden Bird Watch, a Canadian

town that didn't see the sun for 30 days, and the squash players who competed in this year's

British Junior Open. We'll also be having a debate about whether schools should be

inspected. But before all of that, before we dive into this week's news, seeing

as we're going to be chatting about all things bird watching later, I wanted to know

what hobby would you like to take up. And this is tricky for me because I've had to remind myself

By hobby take by taking up a hobby I don't mean what skill do I just want to have

It's a hobby I have to do because my first answer was the piano I'd

love to be able to play the piano but I remember I just want to be able to play it I

don't want to have to learn it I don't want to have the hobby of learning it

that's not helpful and so I think a hobby that I would like to take up would be something

active, would be something sporty. I would like to properly take up the act of cold water swimming. I think that'd be really fun. I think if I had the

the kind of constitution for it it would be a lovely exciting thing to do so I think

hobby-wise I'm going to go cold water swimming. Flora, how about you?

Well I actually think bird watching would be a really good one, but otherwise I was thinking life drawing, and I do do it a little bit, but I think I could get more hobbyist about it.

I have some friends who do this and they just have a lovely time and it's a really good way of like you can see your skills progress week by week because you literally have it physically drawn in front of you I guess.

Yeah and I think drawing is one of those things that you can get a lot better at.

You know, people think that either artistic or not, but actually you can improve a lot just by practicing.
