It is three minutes after 10 and you're listening to James O'Brien on LBC.

I, I'm probably going to say something now and you'll be divided into three camps in response

to what I'm about to say. One camp will be like, yeah, well done mate. What do you want? A biscuit.

Another camp will be, oh, disgraceful. What a load of lefty nonsense.

Oh, my God, he's right, but I can't possibly admit it to myself.

And another camp will be like me. Yeah, that's it, isn't it?

I've been knocking at the door of that understanding for quite a long time, but I've never managed to get it open before.

They just hate everybody.

They hate everybody. I think probably

because deep, deep, deep, deep down, they hate themselves. But this post-Brexit brand of

prominent Tory, the ones that are currently scrambling their way up the greasy pole, they compete

to be obnoxious. It's a form of performative obnoxiousness designed to prove

to a certain part of the electorate how little empathy they have, how little they care about anybody.

So you need to find people who are ostensibly, allegedly, or actually vulnerable or suffering,

people who are suffering a bit. and you need to almost boast about

how little you care. You're going to struggle to beat Jonathan Gullis. Just pause for a moment now

and think of a small child that you love. That's all you've got to do. It might be your grandson,

it might be your nephew, it might just be a little kid who your friend's child. Just think of a child.

You don't have to pick an age. Just think of a child that you love. And now imagine their life

being so desperate that they end up in a dinghy trying to cross the English Channel or trying

to cross any stretch of water. Right? You can do that. You've got to imagine the actual child that you know, the child that you love.

Right? And then tragedy befalls them and they drown.
