I'm your host, Haley Raw, and I am thrilled and honored to be joined today by Mary Murdoch-Meyer.

She is the chief executive of the

Timpanogas Nation, where she works as a leading voice advocating for the rights, recognition,

and history of the Timpanooga's people. Her work includes researching and documenting

the nation's history, as well as helping protect sacred sites and support ongoing efforts around

land rights and cultural preservation. She also leads education and outreach initiatives,

including the Timpanooga's project, to help more people understand both the history and

present-day reality of the Timpanooga Nation. I am so grateful you're here with us today, Mary, and very excited to learn

more about you and your work and more about the Timpanogas Nation. So thank you for joining.

No problem. The first question I wanted to ask you is what is your hope in sharing more about the

Timpanogus Nation? Awareness. A lot of the people that I meet

have never heard of us before. And that's because we have systematically been erased from history.

We're just not talked about. And our history is vital to this area and to ourselves.

Our ancestors ruled the entire Wasatch range.

After Brigham Young came in with the Mormon pioneers,

they put an extermination order out on us and wanted us completely erased.

We're just trying to let people know we're still here and we're still alive.

And there's a lot of things that have been mislabeled and misused.

And we're just trying to correct what's been

mistaken.
