Summary

Although the Catholic Church is facing many challenges today, the faith will never die. Dr. Sri reminds us that as we continue to navigate an increasingly secular culture, we also approach new and exciting opportunities for apostolic mission. It’s clear that our approaches need to change in the home, in parishes, in seminaries, and in schools so that Christ can bring about a renewal and his Church and in our hearts.

Snippet from the Show

Christ promised he would be with us until the end of the age. No matter what crises we face, we trust not in ourselves, but in the power of the Holy Spirit to renew the face of the earth.

Hi, I'm Edward Sree, and welcome to all things Catholic, where real faith meets real life.

0:14.6

The Catholic Church is supposed to be light to the world, but at first glance, some people

0:18.5

might say, there doesn't seem to be a lot of light shining these days.

0:22.2

You know, if you think about all the doctrinal confusion there is among our own Catholic

0:27.5

people. You know, so many people confused about the dignity of human life, the definition

0:32.0

of marriage. As we've been talking recently about the belief in the Eucharist, it's 67%

0:36.8

of Catholics, at least in our country here in the United States, don't believe in the

0:40.0

real presence in the Eucharist. This is, you know, it's a lot of confusion out there,

0:43.9

but it's not just the beliefs. It's the fact that the amount of people coming to church,

0:48.3

coming to mass has been on the decline year after year after year, there's less and less

0:52.8

people coming. And that was before COVID. Then you take the COVID pandemic and now we're

0:58.6

seeing here in our country as churches are opening up that many people are not coming

1:03.7

back. I was just with a group of pastors this last week from all different parts of

1:09.9

the United States coast to coast. And many of them were telling me how happy they were

1:13.8

to have their churches open again and starting to see people trickling back in, but they

1:18.1

all had a certain sadness that they knew that there were many that were not coming back,

1:24.8

that there were many that used to be there, but aren't showing up anymore. But it's not

1:29.2

just about the confusion about beliefs, it's not just the low attendance at mass. It's

1:33.9

also that a lot of the institutions that were kind of like icons of Catholic culture in

1:40.2

different countries, you know, like Catholic schools and parishes and seminaries, those

1:45.1

are on the decline. You know, year after year, we hear about Catholic schools closing.

1:49.1

We hear about parishes closing, seminaries closing. When you stare at this, it could be a
