Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

It's good to be here with you, Teresa,

praying the Rosary and drinking a cup of coffee.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Today we begin to meditate on the theological virtues of faith, hope, and love.

We begin with faith.

What is faith? Most people have a vague idea, but they have a hard time defining it.

And if we don't know what it is, then it's even harder to put into practice.

Let's begin with the importance of believing what others say.

We're sometimes told we shouldn't believe everything we hear or read or see and that's true.

But it's also true that we are designed so that we can't survive without believing other people.

The truth we know firsthand, or by our own reasoning,

it just isn't enough for us.

All of human history, for instance,

instance, consists in events we weren't at,

and we can't mathematically prove.

Or think of geography, how many places do you know exist versus how many places you've

been to personally?

Even scientists must rely on the testimony of other scientists since no one can do all the experiments themselves.
