The Pittsburgh Steelers finally put up 400 plus yards

421 to be exact in their first game of the post-Mack Canada era.

The game plan from Eddie Faulkner was pretty solid using different wrinkles out of

13 personnel with three tight ends on the field.

The middle of the field was utilized more and the tight ends in general had their biggest

game of the season by far.

Quarterback coach Mike Sullivan was calling the plays and at first look he did a pretty good job

though the Steelers still only put up 16 points. Mike Taman talked about how the field position battle was lost

primarily through special teams and that is what led to the tight score. That is

certainly true there were punk coverage penalties and a big kick return by the

bangles that led to their only touchdown of the game, but I am more

concerned with the Steelers lack of points.

The field position battle only explains that a way to a certain extent.

The Steelers had four Red Zone attempts and one more that ended just outside the Red Zone and those five drives

resulted in just 16 points. Three field goals, a touchdown and that Jalum Warren fumble.

Now this is acknowledging that Deontay Johnson's play probably should have been a touchdown, but they still had the ball in the red zone after that with a third and two.

So while it's nice that they outgained an opponent finally and it's hard to ignore that it was in the first game post Canada I won't be

fully sold on this group until they a do it consistently and b start scoring at a
