It's safe to say the last 72 hours have been frustrating to say the least. An ugly loss to the Texans

a Mike Tomlin press conference that left fans, myself included, all the more

flabbergasted and a team that feels very fragile despite being two and

two and only one game out of first place in the division. But there's a right

for frustration. The first month of the Steelers season has not gone

well especially given the team's high expectations of the summer. But what gets me

most of all beyond all the particulars about play calling and personnel is how

much the standard has seemingly fallen in Pittsburgh.

Not necessarily by the team or any one group or person but just collectively.

We've gone from the standard of competing for and winning Super Bowls to hey

Mike Toblin has never had a losing season to people defending the team's

blow out losses and saying, hey, the other team is pretty good.

What about Pittsburgh?

Winning in the NFL is hard. winning Super Bowls even harder. I don't want to flippantly push that aside and I can understand the transitional period Pittsburgh is in something they went through the 1980s into the early 90s.

Maybe that's what we are returning to.

It's a new experience for younger fans like myself who weren't alive or don't remember Bubby Brister and Mark Malone.

Maybe that's where my frustration personally is coming from.

Seeing this team slump away in the mediocre play just trying to get by.

That feels like the new Steeler standard.
