Welcome to the terrible take, a daily segment telling Steeler Nation what's on our minds.

I'm Melanie Freelander.

We have finally made it to the 2023 season opener at Accenture Stadium

and facing a 49ers team that might have made it to the Super Bowl if not for a

ridiculous number of injuries at the quarterback position, Pittsburgh will be able to

give us a hint as to whether the 3-0 preseason performance was a sign of things to come or just a fun few

games that didn't really mean anything in the end. It's hard not to feel confident

about this team after an off-season where general manager Omar Khan added

veteran talent and depth at

positions of need and had such a good draft that barring an injury to

a cornerback Corey Trice Jr. would have seen every rookie drafted make the 53-man roster.

Oh, and Kenny Pickett seems poised to make his second-year jump and then some.

Can this team go all the way? Every year my colleagues at work ask me that and I always have jokingly respond with the same answer.

If they can stay healthy, they can win at all.

Obviously that has not been likely in the last few years.

And I don't know if this is a Super Bowl team.

For players like defensive captain, Cam Hayward,

who at 34 years old won't have too many more chances

to hoist that Lombardi trophy and win that ring,

I would love to see that happen this year.

It feels like the window is open but it's not an easy path considering the number of
