Welcome to the terrible take a daily segment telling Steelers nation what's on our mind. I'm Alex Kazora.

The Pittsburgh Steelers roster is better than a year ago. Much better than a year ago.

And overall, you have to be happy with the 53-man group.

If there is, though, anything that stuck out to me

about its construction, it's the fact that team is currently only keeping eight total

linebackers on its roster, four outside and four inside.

The outside names were expected, no surprises there.

But I thought a fifth name would have stuck around

on the inside linebacker position.

Tanner Muse seemed to be the favorite off his good summer

with the team, but he was among the most surprising Steelers waived and then claimed by the chargers.

Nick Quatowski was hampered by a shoulder injury but his play on the field was

serviceable and he has plenty of special teams value still. Still, he was caught as well.

Right now, the team has seven corners and eight linebacker's, a rare configuration for Pittsburgh.

Will that change? Perhaps. I mean, there are a lot of slot corners on this roster.

In week one, roster elevations are always a way to expand things out. It's just an interesting

footnote on the construction of this team.

And perhaps it's worth mentioning, signaling that Omar Khan is slightly shifting away from

being so special teams focused on the back end of its roster.
