The Pittsburgh Steelers trim the roster from 90 to 53 yesterday, and normally I would use this space to give my reaction to it.

But because this roster is so fluid at the time of this recording the Steelers are still

Instead, I'll pivot to a broader point.

One of the team's main agendas Wednesday is to put together their 16-man practice squad and I love

that it's expanded and stayed that way post-COVID-16 men. Kevin Colbert touched on

this in a serious radio interview yesterday and I could not agree more.

I'm all for players getting as many chances and opportunities as possible.

More players on rosters, 53- man in practice squad is a win all around.

More players of course have jobs.

More players are on the door of playing on Sundays.

Teams have more flexibility, can better deal with injuries, and it's less likely a player

gets cut because the team needs numbers at a position they're short at. Pittsburgh will be building

their group out right about now with a mix of players they had in camp and probably some outsiders

And you never know which of them ends up getting signed or elevated mid-season and wind up making an impact

The more the merrier and the bigger the practice squad, the better football is.
