The closer we get to Tuesday, the day the Pittsburgh Steelers cut the roster from 90 to 53,

the more convinced I am at Gunner- El Shuski will be one of the 53

players on the Steelers roster when they take on the San Francisco 49ers in week one.

I wasn't all that high on the idea of El Shuski making the

roster coming into training camp. The need for him in the receiver and went away

with Alan Robinson the second acquired and Calvin Austin the third coming back

healthy and he was pretty maddening as a returner last season.

But El Showski is someone who put himself a position to make the roster with a strong camp and a couple

of nice pre-season performances.

Well, he'd be the sixth receiver on the roster, and he's going to get much work at all in the passing game.

Well, Shreske provides good depth in the return game.

The sailors don't have a kick returner set in stone yet.

Kalinost in the third hasn't gotten any reps in the kick return game the preseason

and I don't think that that Anthony McFarland return experiment's really ever going to work out.

It's just really not his game.

With Olshesky on the roster,

he provides another internal option and someone that's proven to be good in the past as an all pro-reterner, even though he did struggle with Pittsburgh last season.

The fact that the quarterback seemed to love him also helps.

A few years ago, Ryan Switzer into a roster spot because Ben Rathisburg loved having him wrapped.

When the guy's throwing the ball a complimentary review as a receiver, it's certainly not a bad sign for your staying power.

He's also received praise from Mike Tomlin who called them a football player.
