Welcome to the terrible take, a daily segment telling Steelers nation what's on our mind. I'm Alex Gazora.

In my last terrible take we focused on Broderick Jones debut. From one side of the trenches to the other let's talk about

second-year defense alignment to Marvin Liale. No it was not a debut for him but it

sort of felt like a new beginning. His rookie year was all over the place from position

and weight changes to knee injuries to just being a first-year guy trying to find a home.

Fit has always been the problem with him, a tweener, coming out of Texas A&M.

In the preseason opener, Lial impressed me.

We know he's an athlete. The question is, can he be a technician?

And his hand use in this game especially against the run was impressive

he got through blocks with rips and shrug releases while playing with good pat level and

hand placement.

As a pass Russia, he's still trying to figure out his go-to moves.

But run defense has been a chief concern of mine

if he could anchor, and I was pleased by what he did in this contest. It wasn't all against fourth stringers either.

Many reps came against highly touted rookie Cody Mock known for his run blocking.

If Leal can develop, he'll be an awesome rotational piece and give Pittsburgh

strong depth along their D-line.
