Bouncing off a point Josh Carney recently made, the theme of the Pittsburgh Steelers

2023 training camp has been versatility. That's not brand new. The

summer is always a time to move guys around, but Pittsburgh's taken it to another level this year.

There's been more than the standard but notable D.B.'s playing slot and safety like Trey Norwood,

Elijah Riley, and Patrick Peterson has bounced around quite a bit this summer already.

The offensive line has also flipped in flop.

Spencer Anderson playing everything but center made Herbeak a legitimate option to be the

backup center and Dan Moore Jr. getting a handful of right tackle reps. But we have seen even funkier things. Of course there's

Kendrick Green going from easy target to fan favorite as he's worked as a

full-back H-back in done pretty well.

Defense alignment are playing outside linebacker like Isaiah Loudemoke and James Mwaya,

as the Marvely Isles miss time and the team is seeing who else could play that hybrid role. This is the time to test stuff. It does not mean it's all going to stick. It probably will not. But right now, why not? Give these guys a shot doing something unique. It helps guys like Green try to stick

and increase reps for Emwaya who had been running basically fourth string defense alignment

and barely playing. It's made for a camp that's kept us on our toes in

truly maximizing the team's 90-man roster.
