Welcome to the terrible take, a daily segment telling steelist nation what's on our mind. I'm Alex Kizora.

I'm off on a quasi vacation this week and by the time I get back it'll basically be camped.

So I'm essentially in training camp mode ready to head

out to Latrobe. I'll save my camp is so great, isn't it? Spiel for another point, but needless

to say I'm excited for the year to start.

While most focus on the football aspect of camp, the scheme, and the technique, the most important

aspect is more fundamental, conditioning.

It goes back to the show-up and shaped comment Mike

Tomlin makes at the end of every spring. Camp is great, but man it's a grind. At

one point Pittsburgh has six straight practices that does not even happen in the regular season

this is the only time of year where that occurs and those who make it are the ones

who aren't throwing up into a bucket every year a couple of players start off hot. Then the pads come on, the days get long, and those

guys fall off. Consistency here is key and that'll be what makes and breaks these players.

It's subtle, it's not fun and exciting to talk about,

but oh boy, is it important?

Ask J. Lynn Warren, who reaped the benefit of injuries to Nagee Harris and Benny Snow last summer getting a ton of

extra carries and reps that earned him a roster spot.

Someone will have that same chance this year.

Their conditioning will determine if they can meet that moment.
