Earlier this morning, a tweet notification flashed across my smart watch face from former Steeler's

linebacker Vince Williams with his comment,

yeah he's going to end up playing for the other Pittsburgh football team.

When I later saw the video he had quote tweeted, I realized Williams was referring to the Pittsburgh

mallers linebacker Rubin Foster. Foster was a first round pick by the 49ers back in

2017. While he is no doubt talented, his NFL career flamed out in a combination of arrests and injury.

So no, I don't expect him to be added to the Steelers roster anytime soon.

What's ironic is that without knowing which player Vince Williams meant, I immediately assumed he was referring to offensive linemen Kendrick Green and an opposite career path, a demotion from the NFL to the USFL.

Which brings up to questions.

When will Kendra Green be released from the Steelers?

And if he is, could he succeed in the USFL?

Green is under contract, so there is every reason to bring him back for training camp.

As Alex Kazora discussed in his terrible take the other day,

it's not clear if Green will be more effective as a backup at center or guard.

With so many new faces in the offensive line room, I would guess the position coach Pat Meyer will be moving players around a fair amount in the first week to see what works and what doesn't.

The backup center position is currently wide open,

with Green's failure to secure it last season,

and the departure of J.C. Hasenhauer in free agency.

You can argue that Green was thrown into the fire as a rookie and was never

given his best chance to succeed.
