During day three of the NFL draft and during mini-camp weekend, I heard the phrase over and over again, the Brock Purdy effect.

Everyone looking for the next Brock Purdy, and I get it.

Seventh Round Gym, Big Rookie Year, helped take the 49ers to the NFC title game before

unfortunately getting hurt in it. And so the thought is every team around the league is looking

for their Brock Purdy. Some believing that's why you saw

so many quarterbacks drafted in 2023 and no doubt there were a lot 14 in total.

And in Pittsburgh that's the same conversation when trying to find

their fourth quarterback in rookie mini-camp. But I view that Brock Purdy effect

another way here's some facts. 66 quarterbacks through a pass last season. 57 of them started at least one game.

With so many quarterbacks getting hurt in 2022, teams relying on third and fourth string options to try to get them through the season.

I mean guys like Jeff Triskel, Nathan Piederman, Nick Fols, Trevor Simian, those guys all started games last year. And that's why teams are trying to stock

the shelves at quarterback. It's the most important position in the game, the most valuable position
