I'm Josh Carney. The old saying is it's better to be early than late or it's better to be late than ever.

Turns out I was just that when it came to the Steelers and the interest in veteran linebacker

Elanden Roberts.

You might recall, or you might not, that last February, in one of my very first terrible takes for Steelers

Depot I made the case for Pittsburgh to sign the veteran Roberts to come in with

former coach Brian Flores whom he spent time with in New England and Miami.

Of course that never happened. But now it has. With Flores off to Minnesota as a new defensive coordinator, Roberts wasn't really a thought for the Steelers at this point.

But on Thursday morning, GMU, Mark Khan made the move, inking the veteran linebacker to a two-year deal.

In the process, cutting Miles Jack.

Roberts is a sound get for the Steelers.

He's a true buck linebacker, a seamless fit in Pittsburgh scheme,

and profiles very similarly to one Vince Williams,
