Find something you love as much as Mike Tomlin loves the Senior Bowl.

In recent years, especially post-CovCOVID the event in Mobile has changed a bit the

core has remained the same the last chance to watch prospects in an actual football

highly competitive environment it's still useful information for us and for the teams.

But the event is more sanitized, less mingling between players and media, not as much networking,

and even the presence of NFL Big Wigs has gone away.

In Mobile this year, there were hardly any NFL execs, GMs or head coaches in attendance, but there

was at least one, Mike Tomlin. The dude just lives for these moments.

He stayed for the first two days of practice and got so close to the action you would have thought

he was next in line in O-line D-line.

And he talked to everyone. Prompted or not. Players told me and the rest of the Depot crew about their

interactions with Tomlin. Heck, I talked to the National team Long Snapper, didn't mention a thing about the

Steelers and he started talking about a conversation Tomlin had with a team's kicker.

Pittsburgh was probably the most well represented team down there. That's what

Tomlin did last year standing in the pouring rain to study the

quarterback selecting Kenny Pickett who the team knew well but also saw firsthand

in Mobile. Now sure all teams sent scouts since some level of personnel but the Steelers had

Tomlin, GM Omar Khan, and assistant GM Andy Widal.

The Steelers are still old school football junkies who put a high price on seeing these guys live, not just on tape.

And Tomlin is on the forefront, a reminder of what this event used to be.
