Welcome to the terrible take, a daily segment telling Steelers nation what's on our mind.

I'm Alex Kazora. The NFL, the sports world really are all still reeling from the Mar Hamlin's incredibly

scary injury in Monday night's game against the Cincinnati Bangles. We're all still rooting and praying for

Hamlin to fully recover and live a normal life. That's first and foremost that's

really all that matters. I'm just reflecting on all the tragedy of the last 12 months in Pittsburgh especially

Duane Haskins killed crossing the highway in April.

Franco Harris's death days before his number was to be retired on the Immaculate Receptions anniversary, and Hamlin, a Buffalo

Bill, but Pittsburgh native who Kenny Pickett, Mike Tomlin and others knew very well.

Football is a great game that's given so many players in people chances and lives they wouldn't otherwise have, but there is a dark underbelly.

We try to push it out of our minds, but too often we can't help but be confronted. Players get hurt sometimes as severely

as Hamlin, Ryan Chazir, or Kevin Everett. They suffer concussions that change their lives forever.

Steelers fans know that well with Mike Webster and others.

There's a danger to the sport that's uncomfortable to sit in and no matter what the

league does that risk will always be present. But the game will be played, the show must go on, and I'm not being

preachy here, I know it will, and I'm not looking to end the sport. Teams will kick off in

week 18, and I expected that and don't disagree.

There are games to be played and they will.
