Yahoo Sports reporter Charles Robinson revealed that there is a growing buzz around the league

that the Steelers could deal one of Alex Highsmith or Nick Herbig during the draft.

And the reaction around the league has been mixed.

Steelers fans mostly against the idea. A lot of people wanting

T.J. Watt to be the one traded. Of course, that doesn't make a ton of sense, given his

massively inflated contract. The Steelers would have a lot of financial issues if they traded

Watt. Sure, they might save a few bucks, but there'd still be a lot of dead money and not something

the Steelers probably want to do.

That'd be a pretty embarrassing move for the team after making him the highest paid

player, non-quarterback at least, in NFL history a year ago.

So here's how I'm thinking about this possibility.

Some of the beat reporters and certainly a lot of the fans are saying similar things. Oh, well, the Steelers would never trade Nick Herbick. He's the young guy. But then they'll turn around and say, well, they can't give him a long-term contract with Highsmith and Watt on the team because, A, Herbick's not going to take that long-term contract knowing he's going to spend

at least another year or two as the backup. And B, the Steelers can't dish out three starting

edge salaries. Edge is one of the most expensive positions in the league. You can't have a backup

getting paid starter money. Then you move on to, all right, well, the next logical thing is let's
