One thing Mike McCarthy is going to have to do

is get familiar with the AFC North. I know he's a longtime coach. I know he coached in a

similar North Division, the NFC kind, filled with its own and similar storied franchises and

intense rivalries. But he's never coached in the

AFC before in that head role, let alone the AFC North, which means getting familiar with how

the division works. When McCarthy made the jump from Green Bay to Dallas, he was in the same conference

and there was a higher degree of familiarity.

I don't want to pretend like this is a monumental task, especially for a veteran coach like

McCarthy, but this is where a season starts. That's how a roster gets thought about.
