I'm Josh Carney. Based on his performances in recent weeks, the praise for third-year nose tackle Keanu Benton

needs to be just as loud as the criticism was for him earlier in the year.

In the first few weeks of the season, Benton was a downright disaster.

He wasn't putting pressure on the quarterback and he was getting blown off the ball in the

run game.

His technique and fundamentals were very poor too.

But in recent weeks, Benton has come alive and has played like arguably the best defensive lineman on the team. That's saying

something, since he shares a position room with Cameron Hayward. Benton has 10 pressures in his

last three games and had four against Cincinnati Bengals. He also has 10 run stops in the past three games, too.

He's been much better at the point of attack as a run defender, playing with better leverage and

technique, and he's starting to heat up as a pass rusher. To be completely fair to Benton,
