Moving Jalen Ramsey to safety for the matchup against the Indianapolis Colts

and seemingly doing so on short notice felt risky,

especially against the NFL's highest scoring offense.

Yet the move paid huge dividends for the Pittsburgh Steelers

is Ramsey combined with new trade acquisition Kyle Dugger to keep a lid on the Colts' offense.

All while the Steelers changed up their look with the highest percentage of split safety looks they've played all season.

Ramsey earned a ton of praise after the performance from head coach Mike Tomlin, and based on Tomlin's comments Tuesday,

Ramsey will stay at safety in week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

It's the right move by the Steelers.

It might be an obvious one, but kudos to the Steelers for making that decision.

It shows that they are willing and able to make difficult decisions

that might go against their initial plans defensively,

all in an effort to adapt and try to win football games.

The Steelers initially viewed Ramsey as a cornerback, one that could play inside and outside.

Safety was something he could do in a pinch, and he handled it at times early in the season.

But now, after a strong sewing against the Colts, it sounds like he's staying at

safety for the foreseeable future. It's a smart move by Tomlin and the Steelers, and it's a great

move for Ramsey in the back half of his career. For one week at least, it helped fix some

issues defensively. Hopefully, with more work this week and more time at the position,

Ramsey will only continue to improve.
